ELEGIES – I

It was on the 11th November, 2016, when the city of Kolkata witnessed the launch of a rare piece of literature, an anthology of dark poetry comprising of eighty-eight poems titled – Elegies. The word implies to honour and respect the dead or poetry written to praise the departed. The day was also a special one, called ‘World Remembrance Day’ – a day when the dead are remembered for what they did to make a better world. The place was aptly, the ‘Bhowanipore Cemetery, located at 15, D.L.Khan Road, Kolkata – 700 027.

The anthology was done in collaboration with the Bhowanipore Cemetery Association and St.Paul’s Cathedral; and with the blessings of the Bishop of Kolkata, Rev.Ashok Dutta. It was a unique event, and was attended by a handful of elite intellectuals, professionals, journalists, students and priests from the Church of North India.
